I'm making burdock oil for a hair vitality potion. Please help me?
I know I need to dry out the roots but is there a way I have to cut the burdock roots? Also how long do I have to dry them out for?

That`s what I found concerning to drying methods:
"The roots, high in oils, easily go rancid and need to be dried with artificial heat and left in the open air. They extract well in alcohol. Brandy brings out the nice bittersweet flavor."

Another publication says:
"The shade air-dried roots (1 kg) were cut into pieces with a fodder chopper and extracted with EtOH (4 L) at r.t. for several days to remove fat and pigment......"

You first should dry them and after that cut into pieces to further processing. Using artificial heat will accelerate the drying process but period depends on size of roots.
Different solvents are recommended to extract the roots
Warm water ( 70°C )
Cold native olive oil ( best and most gentle method )
Ethanol.
