What is the difference between a mini and short semester.?
When I'm applying for college using applytexas.com, it asks me "Semester and Year You Expect to Enter: Fall 2009" Under it is a drop down menu with the choices: mini semester or short semester.
so.. What is the difference between a mini and short semester??
A regular semester is 16 weeks long. Undergraduate usually meets twice a week, Graduate usually meets once a week.
A shortened or mini semester offers classes in 4 or 8 week segments and meets for a longer time frame. Cram courses. Possibly 3-4 times a week. For the first 8 weeks of this current semester, I took a Graduate course and it was supposed to last 5 hours. (She let us out early) Now for the 2nd 8 weeks I am taking two more Graduate classes, and they meet from 5-9 pm. These shortened semesters allow students to complete a program in less time.
