Do I use imperfect or past tense for this in Spanish?
One day, Monkey (the monkey's name is Monkey) was eating a banana and Croco (the crocodile) was watching all the animals in the tress above the river. Suddenly, Monkey accidentally dropped the banana into the river.

Is there anything I should fix? Do I need to change the past tense into the imperfect tense or vice versa?

There you are. You have to use the imperfect here because you are speaking of incomplete actions when referring to the acts of eating and watching. However, to speak of the dropping of the banana, you use the preterite to indicate that the action was completed; it fell that one time while the other actions, the eating and watching, were in progress.
